Kamimura Kazuo (上村 一夫), a manga artist dubbed the "ukiyo-e master of Shōwa-era manga", gained fame for his sensitive portraiture of melancholic female characters (such as Lady Snowblood which had been subsequently adapted into film). Kamimura himself led a legendary (if somewhat tragic) lifestyle; he was known to draw prolifically all day, then to head to the local pubs for sake all night, hardly ever sleeping. He died of pharyngeal cancer in 1986, just 45 years old.

To celebrate Kamimura's art, renowned independent bottler Acorn launched a series of Scotch single malt and single grain whiskies featuring his female characters. This is the first time any whisky bottler had been given license to feature Kamimura's beautiful creations. The set consists of four single cask bottlings:

  1. Speyside single malt 1995-2019 (24YO) in a sherry butt, ABV 51.6%
  2. "Williamson" (Laphroaig) single malt 2013-2020 (6YO) in a hogshead, ABV 61%
  3. Speyside blended malt 2010-2019 (9YO) in a hogshead, ABV 61.9%
  4. Invergordon single grain 1988-2019 (31YO) in a barrel, ABV 50.1%
